OnePlus 13R Review: A Game-Changer with Premium Design, Power-Packed Specs & Exceptional Performance

After a long time, OnePlus has launched a truly value-for-money phone, and I’m talking about the OnePlus 13R series. When I did some research on this phone, I discovered that it has many features that you must know if you’re considering buying this phone. I’ll be sharing all the details, so make sure to read till the end. Welcome to 24mobiles.com. Let’s get started!

What’s in the Box?

Opening the box, the first thing you’ll find is the quick guide paper, along with a high-quality silicon rubber case. Then, you’ll see your lovely phone, an 80W SuperVOOC charger, a Type-A USB cable, and a SIM ejector tool.

That’s what you get inside the box.

Now Let’s Talk About the Phone

The design of the OnePlus 13R is quite premium. They’ve finally made some design changes. At the back, you’ll notice a circular camera module. The side body features a flat design, and the front also has a flat display. The back has a glass design with a matte finish, and the frame is made of metal, giving the phone a premium feel. It’s also lightweight, weighing just 202 grams. Due to the flat design, you get a good grip in hand. The phone has been slimmed down, measuring just 8mm in thickness.

Display

The OnePlus 13R comes with a 6.78-inch LTPO 4.1 AMOLED display, protected by Gorilla Glass GG7. It has a peak brightness of 4500 nits, with a 1-120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ certification. You can watch 2160p60 HDR videos on YouTube. The bezel of the display is quite thin, providing an excellent viewing experience. This is a 10-bit display, meaning the colors look fantastic. With a local brightness of 1600 nits and peak brightness of 4500 nits, it’s also TUV Rheinland certified, reducing eye strain. The Aqua Touch feature ensures the phone responds well to water splashes.

Buttons and Ports

On the right side, you’ll find the volume and power buttons. On the top, there’s the microphone, speaker, and an IR blaster. On the left side, you’ll find the alert slider. The bottom side has the SIM tray (dual SIM support), Type-C port, microphone, and speaker. The stereo speakers provide loud and clear sound.

Camera

Now, let’s talk about the camera. Honestly, the indoor camera performance of the OnePlus 13R didn’t impress me much. If you notice, there’s a significant color difference when switching from normal mode to portrait mode. The normal mode tends to overexpose the face, while the portrait mode performs better in comparison. This color tuning difference is due to the camera sensors used—Sony’s 50MP LYT-700 for the main camera and Samsung’s 50MP JN5 for the telephoto camera. Both sensors have different tuning, which causes the color differences.

  • 50MP (Sony LYT-700) Main Camera
  • 50MP (2X Optical) Samsung JN5 Telephoto Camera
  • 8MP Ultra-Wide Camera

The front camera has a 16MP sensor. You can record 4K 60fps videos with the back camera, while the front camera supports 1080p 30fps.

Pro Gaming Experience

For gaming, you can play on Ultra HDR and Extreme HDR settings. It supports smooth gameplay at Extreme, Extreme+, and Ultra Extreme settings, providing a buttery-smooth experience. You can play BGMI at 120fps without any lag. The flat display improves grip, making the gaming experience even better. However, after extended gameplay, you might experience some heat issues.

The OnePlus 13R is powered by the Snapdragon® 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform and scores 1,679,388 on AnTuTu. It packs a 6000mAh silicon-carbon battery and comes with an 80W SuperVOOC charger. The RAM is LPDDR5X, with two variants: 12GB/256GB and 16GB/512GB. The ROM is UFS 4.0.

Connectivity

The phone supports 1P64, 360 NFC, Bluetooth 5.4, and Wi-Fi 6/7.

What’s Missing?

One downside I noticed is the lack of IP68, IP69, or IP66 water and dust resistance, which is a standard in many phones in this price range. The OnePlus 13R should have at least been IP68 certified.

Pricing

  • 12GB/256GB Variant: ₹42,999
  • 16GB/512GB Variant: ₹49,999
